Ordinary Miracles

It’s not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
The sky knows when it’s time to snow
Don’t need to teach a seed to grow
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
Life is like a gift they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up and find a way to give some of your own
Isn’t it remarkable
Like every time a raindrop falls
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
Birds in winter have their fling
But always make it home by Spring
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
When you wake up everyday
Please don’t throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart ‘cause we’re all a part…
Of the ordinary miracle
Ordinary miracle
Do you want to see a miracle?
It seems so exceptional
That things just work out after all
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
Sun comes up and shines so bright
And disappears again at night
It’s just another ordinary miracle today
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

These are the words sung so beautifully by Sarah McLaughlin in the new movie Charlotte’s Web, which in my opinion is the best movie since Narnia. If you haven’t seen it, please do, as it well worth your time and money. I had been looking forward to this movie for about a year and-a-half, ever since I first heard about it. I expected it to be good because it was made by the same company that did Narnia and Because of Winn Dixie, two of the best movies I’ve seen. But I did not expect it to convey such a powerful message of appreciation for ordinary things. It’s one of those movies that just makes you appreciate life a little more. My favorite scene was when Wilbur is standing in the barnyard with the other animals early in the morning. He says, “It’s coming, any second now… there it is!” The camera pans out to reveal a beautiful sunrise, and one of the cows says,”Wow, does this happen every morning?” This part made me think of all the beautiful things I have in my life that I simply take for granted, when I really should recognize them as the miracles they are. So, take some time today and everyday to think about, appreciate, and thank God for the  many Blessings in your life. Not only your family, friends, and the food you eat, but also music, nature, and the ordinary miracle of life itself.
